The Company

BWS was traditionally a London based practice of Construction Consultants established in 1955 with great emphasis on International work. In 1972, we established our office in Bahrain and since that time have worked throughout the whole of the Middle East region. We are also active in other parts of the World including Europe and Asia. Over recent years, our workload has escalated significantly in line with current Middle East market demands and BWS are one of the largest Quantity Surveying / Project Management practices in the region. We have an exceptional reputation in the region and have now established our offices in Abu Dhabi and Oman to service several extremely large multi use projects. In late 2009 we will set-up a major BWS operation in Saudi Arabia.

Unlike our competitors, the UK and Middle East offices of BWS work extremely closely on a day to day basis and this has been the foundation of our success, particularly in the Middle East region where European and US based consultants have been heavily involved and our London based staff have been able to provide all the required support to the consultants' teams. BWS have now undertaken 1200 projects in the Gulf region. A large proportion of our most recent projects have been in the major mixed-use project field including commercial schemes. hotels and resort developments. We are particularly competent on major infrastructures, utilities and marine works which is usually a large area of risk in the initial stages of a major project.

We are currently working on several projects exceeding US$1 billion and many projects in excess of US$100 million. Many of the projects demand high speed procurement construction. BWS have recently completed a major commission from the Government of Bahrain to revise all their standard contracts. These refined contracts form an excellent basis for projects throughout the Gulf region and we would be well placed to assist our clients in all aspects of contract and procurement overviews, vetting and compliance monitoring.

We consider that this higher level of sophistication that we aim to bring to the market as referred to is best demonstrated by our cost planning and cost modelling techniques. These are fully computerised and fully functional cost plans which provide an excellent cost management tool for use throughout the design process. Where possible, we intensify the resources involved at this stage, investing a great deal of time in measurement, cost research and value engineering thereby forming a far more secure basis for cost estimating, cost planning and onward control.
