Modern construction is a complex minefield of schedules, peripheral conditions, legal obligations, and cost & resources issues. Without expert advice and guidance the project risks failure, and the client faces financial losses and possible liability.
Professional Project Management helps the investor, project developer or building owner to establish objectives and adapt to this constantly changing environment to ensure the success of their construction project.
Certainty of outcome is an absolute priority for any client undertaking a capital investment project.
The Project Management services provided by BWS have been developed over many years to give you the highest possible levels of certainty, and the full support of an award-winning team with an exceptional track record of delivering success for our clients.
The BWS project managers are proactive problem solvers and communicators - able to listen, understand and empathise, as well as negotiate and persuade with clarity and firmness.
We are professionals who understand what each part of the team needs to do within the whole. At the same time we are specialists in management - skilled in keeping a team moving forward, whatever the obstacles, through the main stages of a project.
1) At the inception stage, we establish and communicate clarity of purpose about the client’s business strategy and desired outcomes. In tandem and where appropriate, we oversee master planning, planning consents, site acquisitions and funding requirements.
2) We manage the project strategy and design development stage, enabling clients to make informed choices in balancing their objectives within the project’s constraints and risk management regime. All procurement options are explored. Design proposals and programmes are tied to the desired outcomes and budget, and translated into a project execution plan and detailed master programme.
3) At the project control and delivery stage we ensure that the agreed solution will deliver the business need. We check that the contractor’s method statements are viable and that our plans for risk management are sound. Robust team management and change control processes are communicated across the supply chain and maintained throughout construction.
4) In the final stages we oversee commissioning, agree completion, settle final accounts and ensure a smooth transition of the asset through to ongoing facilities management.
Project Management software often used includes PRINCE2, VICO, Aconex and Buzzsaw together with our own bespoke Project Management software.
A vital part of the Project Management function is Programme Management. The BWS Programme Managers are very skilled in the use of all Programme Management software including, Primavera 3, Primavera v6, Primavera Expedition, Powerproject V11 and Microsoft Project 2007 as well as our own bespoke Programme Management software.
Programme Management is the co-ordinated delivery of a series of projects, phases and services which share a common objective and are often interdependent upon each other.
Organising a series of projects or phases in this way typically provides sharper focus on overall efficiency through the dismantling of ‘silos’; aggregation of supply; central control to deliver common outcomes and continuous improvement. It also helps to identify risks that affect the programme as a whole, but may not have been identified within individual projects.
